THE VISION
A large site in Otahuhu was purchased with the intention of demolishing the derelict buildings and undertaking a retail development.
Upon further investigation it was determined that the existing buildings had value if the project could be repurposed as accommodation and we made the decision to redevelop the property into a quality motel property for the local market.
THE PROJECT
The existing buildings had been developed and extended over many years prior to our ownership. At the core of the site was a historic villa that had originally been a local farmhouse. We established a “villa” theme for the project, completely renovated the house and on the remainder of the buildings, used character elements such as a weatherboard exterior, sash windows and character internal detailing.
Other existing buildings on the site were repurposed, completely stripped out and new rooms and corridors laid out. A separate bungalow on the site was connected via a walkway and a block of flats was also renovated.
All rooms have kitchen facilities and large bathrooms.
Air-conditioning and centralised systems were installed for guest comfort and management efficiency.
The property was finished to a very high standard and quality furniture was sourced via our supply chain.
THE RESULT
The market responded very positively to quality accommodation in what was traditionally a lower value market.
Our sister company, Blackstone continues to manage this property and continuous upgrades occur to ensure the property presents to a very high standard.
The property continues to attract strong occupancy from corporate, government and traveling public alike.
